This film is a short trailer for the digital film Songs of the caves
The next four films document a research trip in summer 2012 to investigate the acoustics and sounds of caves that are part of the Altamira world heritage site. The team explored the effectiveness of musical instruments and acoustic test sounds inside the caves.

This clip shows project leader Rupert Till playing stalagmites that ring like a xylophone in Tito Bustillo cave. Special sticks are being used that are wound with cotton to prevent them from leaving any trace of the playing. Ringing stones are called lithophones.
In this film clip Dr. Till is counting how many of the stalactites in Chimeneas cave ring.
